Disable Copy and Paste on Blogger Blogs
Content theft is one thing that has become very common in the blogging sphere today. One thing is to have an idea, research and make findings, write them down on your blog and another thing is to get people to read them on your blog. It is very painful and annoying to see posts that you are their original author on other websites exactly how you composed them without an appropriate acknowledgement. Sometimes, your content might rank better on search engines on other websites and blog than it does on your blog and this is something you probably do not want.

There are over a million bloggers today who are eager to become successful very quickly in blogging but do not want to put in enough effort in creating contents. They are always sniffing around the web looking for contents on other blogs and websites to copy and paste on their own blogs.

This is actually a crime that you can fight, but how would you monitor your posts to know exactly when they are copied to other blogs? Sometimes, our contents get copied to several other blogs and even though you want to track these blogs and report them for content theft, how would you do that when you have thousands of posts published on your blog. The fact is that you have nothing to gain by fighting to see that your posts which are republished on other websites and blogs are removed, but you have everything to benefit from depriving people from copying your blog posts at all.

Dangers of Copy and Paste in Blogging

A lot of people might see no problem in copying other people’s post exactly the way it was published to their own blog, but professional bloggers who are SEO minded see everything wrong in it and try to avoid it by disabling the copy and paste function on their pages.

When posts are written and published, they get crawled by the Google crawlers, and when you copy and paste them on your blog, you may be inviting the wrath of the search engines. Usually when a post is republished in a new url, it is a good SEO practice to use an appropriate canonical tag, 301 or 302 redirect to inform the search engine crawlers that it is an old post which has been republished or moved permanently or temporarily to a new url. When this is not done, the search engines will re-crawl this same content in the new url and see both as duplicate contents and the blogs or websites might be penalized. I will write another article to talk more on how to use “Re=Canonical tags and 301” redirects on blogger.

Now, let us go to the main reason why you are here.

The script has nothing to do with Google's terms and policies. It should work in every blogger blog as long as it is correctly applied. You should try the script above following the tutorial herein.
